This project is a quest to photograph Sydney's beaches, ocean pools and coastline; from Palm Beach in Sydney's north to Cronulla in the south. Sydney has over 70 major beaches, spread along more than a hundred kilometres of outer coastline. This does not include an additional 100 or more beaches along many hundreds of kilometres of inner harbour, bays and major estuaries within the greater Sydney area. With an unlimited number of compositions possible and with ever changing light, clouds and tides, this is a rich 'living' canvas with which to work.
Are you a 'Hopper'? With landscape photography there is often the enticement to hop, bound and jump all over the place trying to chase down as many nice looking things as we can shoot. One of the down sides of this approach is that those one or two more significant compositions can be missed or forgotten about. And when that perfect light does come, it can quickly disappear while you are off elsewhere.
